Judge Tamara Garcia

 

Judge Garcia began her legal career as staff attorney at the Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals. She then entered private practice at Pustorino, Pederson, Tilton & Parrington in 1989.  She added the responsibilities of Hearing Examiner for the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux (Dakota) Community from 1995-2008 and joined State Fund Mutual Insurance Company as a Board Director from 2000-2008. Additionally, Judge Garcia served as a hearing examiner at Amerind Corporation from 2007-2008.

 Judge Garcia currently serves as the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Judge Garcia was appointed to the bench by former Governor Tim Pawlenty in 2008.  She has served terms in both the Juvenile and Criminal divisions. Judge Garcia was elected in 2010 and again in 2016.
